I starts coming here 30 years ago with my sister and her kids, and now I come with my kids and I try to let them feel what my childhood was like...from the tiddlywinks to rock candy. I leave with a smile and a token of my childhood everytime.

The store is a lovely place to visit and shop in. There are items for children and adults at various prices. There's plenty of parking in front of the store or across the street and special crossing lights for pedestrians. The store has two floors so there's plenty to explore, but there only are stairs to the second floor so it's not handicap friendly. I'm not sure if there's a handicap entrance because the front door is at the top of a few steps. The store also has a delightful collection of old tin, cartons and containers for products that would have been sold in a general store above the modern items for sale.

I haven't been inside this store in about 25 yrs or so. i grew up near here and the last time I was here was in the early 1990s or so. It hasn't really changed much inside but the exterior is completely renovated. When you walk in the smell is so pleasant and inviting. A mix of the chocolate and candy as well the candles wash over you with a hint of the old wood interior form this landmark. So many interesting things to see here and buy if you like. Get a honey stick or rock candy pop. Brings you back in time. 5+++stars love this store.

The store is bigger thsn it looks on the outside. It is jam packed with nostalgia. And the smell an calming music hust makes you want to linger longer.

I have passed by the St. James General store so many times and always wanted to go in. This little shop is reminisce of what you would expect in Colonial days. It has a little bit of everything. You can find unique clothing, American flags, baby clothes, tees, etc. There are also a number of household items for the kitchen, handmade soap, aprons, towels, postcards, local honey and so much more. Be prepared to spend money because although some of the items may seem pricey, they support local businesses. Although there isn't a lot of parking, you can park down the road. It is a nice area and great for a walk during warmer seasons. On the side of the building there are picnic tables. This is great if you want to enjoy a snack or a light lunch with your family.
